This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 6

9:30 p.m.: Scott Pritchett, 37, of the 600 block of East 16th Street, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana. An officer stopped Pritchett’s vehicle for expired registration near Sedalia city limits on West 16th Street. Investigation reportedly revealed Pritchett was in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Dec. 7

6:50 p.m.: Cordero Victor Anderson, 18, of the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue, and Jasmine D. Hagan, 21, of the 2600 block of Bristol Lane, were arrested on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful transaction with a child. An officer stopped a car without a front license plate in the area of South Moniteau Avenue and West Second Street. He spoke with the driver and a passenger. A 3-year-old child was also in the car. Investigation reportedly revealed the driver and passenger were in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia. The officer arrested both at the scene and later released them with state charges pending.

8:05 p.m.: Travis D. Eldred, 31, of the 2200 block of East Broadway Boulevard, was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a warrant check. They made contact with Eldred as he came out of the residence and tossed his wallet on the ground. A computer check of his information showed he had failure to appear warrants from Sedalia and Pettis County. Eldred’s wallet reportedly contained drugs.

Dec. 9

3:30 p.m.: Reggie Ervin Townsend, 56, of the 400 block of East Jackson Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Townsend’s vehicle for disobeying a stop sign at South Emmett Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard. He took Townsend into custody after learning his license was suspended.

Dec. 10

9:25 a.m.: Dillon J. Edens, 28, of the 500 block of Dal-Whi-Mo Court, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. Officers stopped Edens’ vehicle for expired license plates. A computer check of his information showed he had a suspended license and a Pettis County failure to appear warrant.

Incidents

Nov. 28

1:10 p.m.: A complainant reported unauthorized transactions on her bank account. She said a known person charged more than $600 to her debit device between Oct. 8-28. The reporting officer knew of a possible suspect at the time of the report. The case is under investigation.

Dec. 8

4:15 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1100 block of West Seventh Street in reference to a theft. The victim said she applied for a “secret shopper” job on Indeed.com and was accepted as an “employee.” She received money to complete her job but discovered the funds were fraudulent, resulting in a financial loss. The operation had been a scam in which people are “employed” and issued fraudulent checks. The employees then purchase gift cards from local businesses and forward that information to the employer. By the time a bank denies the fraudulent checks, the gift cards are depleted, and contact is lost with the suspects. The officer had no suspect information at the time of the report.

Dec. 9

9:45 a.m.: An officer responded to the 600 block of South Engineer Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle. He met with the victim who said he was letting his 2006 GMC vehicle warm up behind his residence. He said a male subject walking near his residence got in his vehicle and left with it. At the time of the report, the officer hadn’t identified the suspect, and the vehicle was still missing.

11:45 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 2400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a reported disturbance. Investigation revealed a suspect had made unwanted contact with a victim while an order of protection was in place. The suspect fled before the officers’ arrival, but they are submitting charges.

Dec. 10

9:55 a.m.: An officer responded to the 2400 block of Clinton Road to investigate the theft of a vehicle. A business reported someone took a $12,000 pickup truck sometime during the previous day. The officer had a possible lead in the case at the time of the report.

Arrests

Dec. 7

4:15 p.m.: Robert Bemiss was arrested on a charge of third-degree domestic assault. Deputies arrested Bemiss after responding to a domestic disturbance in the 500 block of East 36th Street.

Dec. 8

1:20 p.m.: Daren Alexander Morey, of Jefferson City, was arrested on a felony charge of driving with a revoked license. Deputies arrested Morey during a traffic stop in the area of Route O and U.S. Route 50.

4:55 p.m.: Jesse Wade Morris, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Deputies arrested Morris during a traffic stop after they reportedly found him in possession of methamphetamine.

Arrests

Dec. 7

6:20 p.m.: Brooke L. Zabriskie, 22, of Clinton, was arrested in Henry County on charges of felony possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a forgery device.

8:20 p.m.: Terry G. Sorden, 34, of Clinton, was arrested in Henry County on a charge of hindering the prosecution of a felon.

Dec. 9

6:15 p.m.: Coleman C. Morgan, 21, of St. Joseph, was arrested in Saline County on charges of driving while intoxicated and lane violation.

4:40 p.m.: Blenda M. Springer, 40, of Los Angeles, California, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of not having insurance and speeding. Troopers also served a felony out-of-state warrant for child neglect.
