This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 11

8:05 p.m.: Bobby Lynn Clark, 38, of the 700 block of West 11th Street, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers responded to Clark’s residence to perform a warrant check. They found Clark and served two active warrants for probation violation in Pettis County. Further investigation reportedly revealed he was in possession of marijuana and related paraphernalia.

10:15 p.m.: Ashley K. Morales, 23, of the 2200 block of West Third Street, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer stopped a vehicle on westbound West Broadway Boulevard near Thompson Boulevard for failing to signal a lane change. He smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and reportedly located a pipe with marijuana residue. The officer also served two failure to appear warrants against Morales from the Sedalia Municipal Court.

11:30 p.m.: Michael Torres Alejo, 19, of the 1500 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was arrested on a felony charge of third-degree domestic assault. An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of South Kentucky Avenue for a 911 call that sounded like a disturbance. While officers were en route, dispatch reported a child had answered the phone and said her sister and Alejo were fighting. After an investigation, the officers arrested Alejo and placed him on 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Jan. 13

2 a.m.: Joseph C. Roberts, 53, of Warsaw, was arrested on a felony charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer stopped a vehicle on South Limit Avenue at Tiger Pride Boulevard for malfunctioning license plate lights. A computer check revealed the driver, Roberts, had a revoked license.

8:15 p.m.: Jeffery F. Knifong, 36, of the 600 block of West Third Street, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of stealing, fourth-degree assault and resisting arrest. Officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. Knifong was reportedly seen running from a store with items. The officers located him, and while they were placing him under arrest he reportedly pushed away and attempted to flee. The officers apprehended Knifong and took him into custody.

Jan. 14

1:45 a.m.: Tristan J. Medrano, 21, of the 1900 block of East 12th Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer stopped Medrano’s vehicle at West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue for not having license plate lights. A computer check revealed he had a suspended license.

Incidents

Jan. 10

12:55 p.m.: A complainant came to the police station to report harassment and stalking. The stalking began Nov. 7 and has continued since. The victim knew the suspect.

Jan. 11

3 p.m.: A complainant called the police department to report a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred Dec. 6. The complainant identified the suspect.

3:15 p.m.: A subject came to the police station lobby to report a theft. He said a suspect he knew stole a Stihl TS500i cutoff saw from a work site in the 500 block of West Saline Street sometime between Dec. 21 and Friday. The victim valued the saw at $1,200 and is willing to assist with prosecution.

Jan. 12

4:20 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of West 16th Street for an assault in progress. When they arrived, they found the complainant and a female juvenile were separated but in the same room of the residence. The complainant said the girl had assaulted her by hitting her with a fist and an open hand in the face and neck area. The complainant didn’t have any visible injuries at the time of the call. The officers released the girl to her mother and submitted a juvenile referral for assault at the Pettis County Juvenile Office.

Jan. 13

9:25 a.m.: A subject came to the police station to report his handgun was lost or stolen. He said the gun was inside a jacket pocket about 6 a.m. He retraced his steps to the locations he had visited that morning but wasn’t able to find the firearm. The complainant was able to provide proof of purchase and a serial number.

1:45 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 900 block of South Limit Avenue for an assault report. The caller said a white male customer returned to the business after ordering food inside and leaving. The man came back and demanded a full refund for the food he had ordered. The manager requested the customer return the full meal before he would give a complete refund. The man didn’t have the entire meal and became upset, throwing a burger at the manager. He left the store in a white 2007 Ford Expedition. Officers hadn’t contacted the man at his Pettis County address at the time of the report.

Jan. 11

1:45 p.m.: Deputies took a report of delivery or possession of a weapon in a county jail. Charges are pending at this time.

Jan. 11

9:45 p.m.: Charles R. Taylor, 28, of Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, was arrested in Saline County on charges of driving while intoxicated, lane violation and not having insurance.

Jan. 13

2:30 p.m.: James W. Shaver, 45, of California, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving and not having insurance.
