This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Oct. 31

3:35 p.m.: Trenton Robert Willis, 18, of the 1900 block of West Timber Ridge Drive, was arrested on charges of distribution of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Shamar Dayllon Pinkett, 19, of the 1800 block of South Prospect Avenue, was arrested on charges of distribution of marijuana, felony resisting arrest, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer stopped Willis’ vehicle and detected a strong odor of marijuana. One of the passengers, Pinkett, reportedly fled the area and was apprehended shortly after. Officers reportedly found Pinkett in possession of a felony amount of marijuana. An officer arrested Willis after a search reportedly revealed he was also in possession of marijuana.

7:10 p.m.: Jonathan J. Sauer, 45, of the 800 block of East 11th Street, was arrested on a charge of failing to comply with sex offender restrictions. An officer went to Sauer’s house to see if he was complying with Halloween restrictions for a registered sex offender. When he arrived, he saw several Halloween decorations in the front yard, the front porch light on and the front door open. The officer made contact with Sauer, who was standing in the front room of the residence, and took him into custody.

Incidents

Oct. 31

8:55 p.m.: Officers were dispatched with the Sedalia Fire Department to a fire in the 1400 block of South Barrett Avenue. They found a detached garage fully engulfed in flames, and the northeast corner of the residence had also caught fire. Firefighters got all the residents out of the home and put the fire out. At the time of the report, a fire marshal had been contacted for an arson investigation.

8:25 p.m.: James A. Wright, 32, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lester G. Vass, 44, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and registration violation.
