Casting Crowns to perform at MSF

Posted

Casting Crowns, a contemporary Christian rock band, will perform at the Missouri State Fair Tuesday, Aug. 16, along with We Are Messengers, a group originally from Ireland now based in the U.S.

Casting Crowns began in 1999 by youth pastor Mark Hall, who serves as the band's lead vocalist, as part of a youth group at First Baptist Church in downtown Daytona Beach, Florida.

The group is known for the songs “Praise you in the Storm,” “Who am I,” I Know You’re There,” and “Scars in Heaven.”

They currently have a new album, “Healer,” which was written during the pandemic by Hall while stuck at home. Casting Crowns' website states that Hall knew, given the circumstances, he needed to write songs for the moment and so he began crafting songs speaking to his own struggles, his own fears and uncertainty.

We Are Messengers describe themselves as a rag-tag group of friends consisting of Darren Mulligan (lead vocals), Kyle Williams (guitar), Drew Kerxton (drums) and Raul Aguilar (bass) who still believe that it’s possible to change the world.

Casting Crowns and We Are Messengers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 at the State Fair Grandstand. Public Grandstand tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. June 28. Tickets cost $30 for track and $25 for Grandstand.
