ZZ Top to perform at Missouri State Fair

The Missouri State Fair announced on Monday that ZZ Top will perform at the State Fair Grandstand this year.

ZZ Top will take the stage Wednesday, Aug. 17 as part of the Raw Whiskey Tour. According to the rock band’s website, ZZ Top is working on a new album, “RAW,” that was recorded in connection with the band’s popular and critically lauded 2019 Netflix documentary, “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas.”

The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and is known for defining songs such as “LaGrange,” “Tush,” “Cheap Sunglasses” and “Sharp Dressed Man.”

Noted by “Rolling Stone,” ZZ Top was never an ordinary blues-rock band.

“After Cream and Jimi Hendrix warped electric blues into psychedelia, ZZ Top pulled it back to the dusty ground of Texas, but they weren’t as straight-ahead as they seemed,” Rolling Stone stated.

ZZ Top was formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. For 51 years, the band comprised vocalist/guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and vocalist/bassist Dusty Hill, until Hill's death in 2021.
