Smithville motorcyclist in serious condition after Benton County accident
Gina M. Ponessa, 52, of Smithville, sustained serious injuries at 3:20 p.m. Monday in a Benton County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ponessa was driving a 2022 Kawasaki east on state Route Z when she traveled off the roadway, struck a sign and a tree, and was ejected. Ponessa was wearing a helmet and was taken by Air EMS to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
California man hurt in Morgan County impaired driving accident
Matthew C. Gambling, 29, of California, sustained minor injuries at 7:40 p.m. Monday in a Morgan County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Gambling was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram south on Missouri Highway 5 when he traveled off the right side of the roadway, over-corrected, ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and a tree.
Gambling was arrested for driving while intoxicated, alcohol, careless and imprudent driving involving a motor vehicle crash, no insurance, and no seat belt. He was released for medical treatment and transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.
