Icy conditions cause injury crash in Saline County

Tommy J. Mapes, 67, of Sweet Springs, suffered moderate injuries at 6:20 a.m. Monday in a Saline County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Mapes was driving a 1996 Ford Ranger south on U.S. Highway 65 when he began to slide on the ice-covered roadway, traveled off the right side of the road and overturned.

Mapes was wearing a seat belt and was transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.

Marshall woman hurt in Saline accident

Isabel R. Rico Ibarra, 46, of Marshall, suffered minor injuries at 7:35 a.m. Monday in a Saline County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Ibarra was driving a 2005 Ford E350 west on Highway 20 when she crossed the center of the road. Her vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

Ibarra was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
