Seven hurt in Benton County four-car accident

A 3-year-old boy from Warsaw, a 7-year-old girl from Warsaw, Kindra L. Elliott, 28, of Warsaw, Shayna M. Smith, 31, of Edwards, Joel T. O'Connell, 34, of Edwards, and Samuel E. Campbell, 38, of Edwards, all sustained minor injuries, and Roberta A. Everhart, 52, of Edwards, sustained moderate injuries at 2:20 p.m. Monday in a Benton County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Everhart was driving a 2010 GMC Acadia east on Route M at Route B when she turned into the path of a 2000 Dodge Durango driven south by Elliot. Elliott attempted to avoid striking the Acadia by traveling across the center line. The two vehicles collided and after impact, the Durango struck an unoccupied and parked 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. The Acadia struck an unoccupied and parked GMC Sierra.

All seven passengers were wearing seat belts. Smith refused treatment on scene. The juveniles, Elliot and O’Connell were transported by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District to Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare in Clinton. Campbell and Everhart were transported by WLAD to Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Information is taken from preliminary Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved.
