Drugged-up suspect fires at Sedalia police through hotel door

Posted

At 2:29 a.m. Tuesday Sedalia police officers responded to a hotel in the 3600 block of West Broadway Boulevard. A subject had asked hotel staff to call police because he believed people were trying to enter his room, though no one was.

When police attempted to make contact, the subject fired a gun from within his room. Officers secured the area and the subject fired three more times from within the room.

He eventually exited the room still armed but surrendered to officers without further incident.

No one was injured because of the shooting and subsequent investigation revealed the subject was likely under the influence of a controlled substance. Charges of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, possession of a controlled substance, first-degree property damage, and second-degree assault are being sought against the suspect.
