This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 18

4:54 p.m.: Matthew J. Locke, 22, of Houstonia, was issued a municipal court summons in the 4100 block of West Broadway Boulevard for stealing. An officer responded to a business for a report of theft by an employee. The complainant said the suspect stole two items and marked two items at a discount for personal gain. The complainant said the suspect stole around $89.98 worth of merchandise. The suspect admitted to the theft and was issued a municipal court summons for stealing.

Dec. 21

2:13 p.m.: Monique Williams, 37, of the 1300 block of East 13th Street, was arrested in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard on a charge of stealing. An officer responded to a business for a report of theft by an employee. The complainant said the suspect stole $2,051 from the business’ registers between Nov. 21 and Dec. 21. The suspect admitted to the theft. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked and released.

2:29 p.m.: Andrew Briones Vasquez, 19, of the 300 block of East Second Street, was arrested at his residence on charges of third-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Officers responded to the residence for a report of domestic violence. It was determined a physical assault had occurred. Investigation determined the suspect had grabbed the victim’s throat causing injury and chased the victim with a weapon threatening to kill them.

2:30 p.m.: Joseph Sullivan, 35, of Knob Noster, was issued a municipal court summons near the intersection of West Ninth Street and South Sneed Avenue on a charge of driving with a revoked license. An officer responded to a vehicle accident. Dispatch informed the officer that one of the drivers had a revoked license. The officer wrote Sullivan a citation for driving with a revoked license.

Dec. 22

11:46 a.m.: Michael L. Montes, 30, of the 400 block of West 20th Street, was arrested near the intersection of East 16th Street and South New York Avenue on a charge of driving with a suspended license. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling 40 mph in a 20 mph zone. Dispatch confirmed the driver had two failure to appear warrants from Moniteau County and a suspended license. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.

11:34 p.m.: Gary Alan McKinsey Jr., 18, of the 800 block of North Engineer Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Limit Avenue on a charge of possession of marijuana. Officers conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle was observed swerving across the road and narrowly avoiding a collision. The subject was found in possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

Dec. 23

2:19 a.m.: Noah James Mitchell, 40, of the 1300 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested at his residence on a charge of second-degree domestic assault. Officers responded to the residence for a report of a disturbance. It was determined a physical altercation took place between a male and female known to each other. The male was determined to be the primary aggressor and was taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of state charges. The female was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment of her injuries.

2:23 a.m.: Gage Anderson Fancher, 18, of the 1600 block of South Ingram Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of East 17th Street and South Lafayette Avenue on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol. An officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the roadway. The officer made contact with a male suspect who was asleep. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Incidents

Dec. 22

1:30 a.m.: Gunshots were reported in the area of West 11th Street and South Moniteau Avenue. Officers responded to the area and located shell casings. Residents in the area heard the sound of gunshots but no evidence was found to show any victims or damage to the surrounding houses or vehicles. The investigation is ongoing.

Dec. 23

6:52 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 4400 block of Wisconsin Avenue for a report of property damage. The complainant reported the suspect, possibly a juvenile, used a lighter from a display to set another cardboard box display on fire. Customers near the display saw the fire and put it out before more damage was caused.

Dec. 24

1:03 p.m.: An Allis Chalmers lawn tractor was reported missing from a residence in the 600 block of West Cooper Street.

8:21 p.m.: A burglary in progress was reported in the 800 block of Ruth Ann Drive. The homeowner had gone to a neighbor’s home and reported an unknown person was inside the home. Officers arrived and cleared the home and located a possible forced entry point. The victim reported an unknown white male entered the house, produced a knife and demanded money. Several jewelry items valued at roughly $2,000 were reported missing.

11:39 p.m.: An officer responded to the area of 16th Street and Thompson Avenue for a report of an accident. The officer found a light pole on the southeast corner of the intersection had been knocked down and was lying in a yard. The caller told the officer a white truck hit the pole and left the area.
