Oct. 24

2:45 a.m.: Richard A. Ballenger, 42, of Raytown, was arrested after officers responded to Comfort Inn, 3600 W. Broadway Blvd., for a subject check. During the incident the subject fired a firearm and additional deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff's office arrived on scene. Ballenger was ultimately taken into custody by officers and deputies and was charged with armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, second-degree assault and first-degree property damage. 

Oct. 23

3:28 p.m.: Michael S. Brewington, 46, was arrested after officers responded to the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of a male suspect that threatened a female with a knife. Brewington was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold pending charges of third-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. 

8:50 p.m.: Michael John Smith, 49, of the 400 block of East 13th Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched for a dog bite. The caller's dog was attacked by a neighbor's dog that ran onto the property. Smith was cited for vicious dog and animal at large.

9:15 p.m.: Officers took a theft report at 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The reporting party said items were stolen by a former roommate. The case is still under investigation.

8:00 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the 1200 block of South Osage Avenue in Pettis County for an assault report. He spoke with the victim and took a formal report which was turned over to the Pettis County Juvenile office for follow up.
