This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 21

1:12 a.m.: Joseph M. Hulsey, 36, of the 900 block of West 10th Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop near West 10th Street and South Grand Avenue for speeding and conducting an improper turn. Hulsey was intoxicated and was given a municipal citation for driving while intoxicated and released.

748 a.m.: Michelle A. Davenport, 56, was arrested after an officer responded to trespassing at St. Patrick Catholic Church in the 400 block of East Fourth Street. The suspect was confronted, arrested, and transported to the Pettis County Jail and put on a 24-hour hold for trespassing.

7:30 p.m.: Marcus Mantrell McKnight, 36, of the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop on a vehicle for having no license plates. McKnight was driving with a revoked driver's license and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released for driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance, and failure to register with the Department of Revenue.

Incidents

Jan. 16

4:47 p.m.: Officers were called to a business in the 1700 block of West 16th Street regarding a resident assaulting a staff member and causing injury. The injured staff member stated they would like to pursue charges and the resident was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for further evaluation. A request for a charge of third-degree assault has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Jan. 18

3:13 p.m.: A traffic stop at West Ninth Street and South Limit Avenue was conducted on a vehicle that was driven by a known suspended driver. The driver was issued a municipal summons and given a court date.

Jan. 19

2:40 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 2100 block of South Warren Avenue for a report of an abandoned bicycle. The bicycle had been abandoned on railroad property for at least a week and was taken to the police department for safekeeping.

11:39 p.m.: Officers received a call regarding a domestic assault that occurred in the 400 block of North Quincy Avenue. They spoke with the victim and identified the suspect, who has not been located at this time.

Jan. 20

6:24 p.m.: Officers took a report in the police department lobby regarding a harassment-stalking case. They spoke with the victim and documented the evidence provided.

9:43 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East Fourth Street in reference to a suspicious person. The owner of the residence described an unknown individual who left a personal item on the front doorstep of the home. Officers seized the item and placed it into evidence for safekeeping.

Jan. 20

7:14 p.m.: John M. Hennessy, 27, of Independence, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Marshall Police Department and released.
