This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 3

5:12 p.m.: Officers responded near the 400 block of East Seventh Street for a possible stolen vehicle. The victim said she lent her vehicle to a friend who then had it stolen from him.

Jan. 5

6:49 p.m.: Melyssa R. Fleming, 34, of the 600 block of East 11th Street, was issued a municipal court summons in the 900 block of North Cedar Drive for possession of marijuana. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle that failed to use a turn signal. Upon contact with the driver, officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and marijuana was found.

9 p.m.: Nathaniel L. Willis, 40, of the 1000 block of South Vermont Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of South Missouri Avenue and Wilkerson Street for driving with a revoked license and possession of a controlled substance. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle that failed to use a turn signal. A computer check showed the driver had a revoked license. The driver was found in possession of methamphetamine.

Incidents

Jan. 1

2:58 a.m.: Officers responded to the 900 block of Crescent Drive for a burglary in progress. The suspect left prior to officers’ arrival. The victim reported a subject known to her attempted multiple times to force entry into her residence. In one of the attempts, the subject broke the glass out of the front door. Charges for second-degree attempted burglary and second-degree property damage are being requested.

Jan. 4

1:33 p.m.: A theft was reported that occurred over the weekend at a business in the 2400 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The complainant reported noticing that 20 tire rims valued at $60 each were missing.

8:37 p.m.: Jeffrey A. Thorell, 35, of Holden, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated.
