Police Reports July 5

This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 1

8:24 a.m.: Hakeem Dixon, 25, of the 1000 block of Royal Boulevard, was arrested after officers responded to the 300 block of West Main Street in reference to a vehicle theft. Officers made contact with the reporting party who said her vehicle was stolen from the back of her building between 7 and 8 a.m. Pettis County deputies located the vehicle in the 100 block of Villa Drive. The suspect has been interviewed and was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of tampering with a motor vehicle first-degree, first-degree burglary, stealing a motor vehicle, and stealing from a building. 

July 2

2:07 a.m.: Mikee Rashawn Wilson,  25, of Otterville was arrested after a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Barrett Avenue on a vehicle that had been observed speeding. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and Wilson was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released. 

3:35 a.m.: Tanner J. Leary, 22, of the 2400 block of Stacey Lane, was arrested after officers responded to the 3500 block of South Stewart Avenue in reference to an attempted vehicle theft. A complainant made contact with the suspect and he was detained prior to officer's arrival after being seen tampering with multiple vehicles. He was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail and put on a 12-hour hold pending state charges of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and felony marijuana possession.

July 3

1:36 p.m.: Charisse M. Collins, 23, of  Whiteman Air Force Base was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of East 11th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Court summons were issued to multiple subjects and Collins was issued a citation for assault.

1:40 p.m.: Keiasha M. Jackson, 25, of the 1400 block of South Sneed Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of East 11th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Court summons were issued to multiple subjects. Jackson was issued a citation for trespassing. 

6:41 p.m.: Cameron T. Hume, 19, of the 5300 block of Pin Oak Lane, was arrested after officers were dispatched to South Beacon Avenue and West 18th Street for a domestic disturbance. Investigation Hume had assaulted a female and resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of fourth-degree aggravated assault and resisting arrest. 

July 4

11:59 a.m.: Moises Romero Rubio, 38, of the 1400 block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the 1900 block of South Quincy Avenue. The driver was identified and after investigation he was placed under arrest. Rubio provided a breath sample and was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of driving while intoxicated prior-offender and driving with a suspended driver's license. 

Incidents

June 28

4:51 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the lobby of the police department in reference to a stolen vehicle. The complainant said the vehicle was stolen from the 600 block of State Fair Boulevard overnight. It was entered into the system as stolen. 

5:08 p.m.: An officer made contact with a male subject at the police department who reported he was involved in a hit-and-run accident. His vehicle was hit by another that fled from the scene in the 400 block of East Broadway Boulevard. 

July 1

12:15 a.m.: An officer responded to Bothwell Hospital, 601 East 14th Street, to take an assault report. A combative patient assaulted a hospital security officer attempting to restrain the patient for observation. Charges are being pursued. 

8:50 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1400 block of West 32nd Street for a report of a physical disturbance between a male and female. The suspects had left before officers arrived, and we're not located. A cell phone video taken by a witness was recovered. 

11:20 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of Crescent Drive in reference to an assist agency report. A report was done to document the incident.

3:33 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of East 12th Street in reference to a property damage report. The victim said someone used a permanent marker to write several words on the side of their vehicle. 

4:17 p.m.: Officers responded to the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of property damage. Contact was made with a female subject who reported that an unknown suspect had thrown a rock from the Katy Trail overpass and hit her vehicle while she was driving on East Broadway Boulevard.

5:06 p.m.: An officer met a victim in the lobby of the police department in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated that at 8 a.m. she was involved in a vehicle collision at 16th Street and Ohio Avenue. The other driver fled the scene without providing information. 

July 2

5:16 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of North Grand Avenue for a report of property damage. A suspect has not been identified.

10:26 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of West Main Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Both parties alleged a disturbance was physical. No primary physical aggressor was determined so a 12-hour log was used to document the incident.

10:27 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of West Third Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. A caller stated he stepped outside with his dog and witnessed a white passenger car cross the center line and crash into his vehicle which was parked in the 1000 block of North Stewart Avenue. The vehicle then turned around and parked a few houses north of the crash scene. The driver got out of his car and went inside a home. The driver at first denied knowledge of the accident however eventually confessed. 

10:34 a.m.: A victim called the police department in reference to property damage. They stated July 1 they were traveling underneath the Katy Trail overpass on Broadway Boulevard when something was thrown from its striking the passenger side of the vehicle. A suspect has not been identified.

11:36 a.m.: Officers responded to the 1800 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of road rage. A woman reported she had witnessed two vehicles hitting each other while driving down the street. 

1:33 p.m.: Officers responded to the 4900 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of property damage. A male subject reported he was driving on East Broadway Boulevard when multiple juvenile suspects threw rocks at his vehicle from the Katy Trail bridge. The juveniles were located and the case will be referred to the Pettis County Juvenile office. 

2:59 p.m.: A subject came into the police department lobby to hand over a cell phone found near East Fourth Street and South New York Avenue. It was entered into evidence for safe keeping.

3:58 p.m.: An officer observed a crash at East Broadway Boulevard and South Emmett Avenue. The odor of marijuana was smelled coming from one of the cars and a probable cause search of the car found marijuana which was seized for destruction. No charges were sought. 

July 3

3:34 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of South Lamine Avenue in reference to property damage. The caller said someone threw a tire iron through her window. The victim did not see the suspect. The estimated damage is $200 and no arrests have been made.

9:35 a.m.: Officers responded to Fortune Palace, 3005 South Limit Avenue, for a report of theft. The female subject reported that a male suspect left the restaurant the previous night without paying. The suspect was identified but not located.  

10:59 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of South Monroe Avenue. The owner of the property removed squatters from the home and while cleaning discovered a crystal-like substance and drug paraphernalia. The items were seized for destruction.

1:30 p.m.: Officers responded to Liberty Park Pool in reference to three juveniles breaking into the facility. The juveniles were located on the premises and took off on bicycles once officers arrived. One was located in the 100 block of South Harrison Avenue and later turned over to a parent. No charges are being requested at this time but officers will follow up with the Sedalia Parks and Recreation Department to obtain video footage. Potential trespass warnings may be issued. 

2:07 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Harrison Avenue for a report of a stolen firearm. Contact was made with a female subject who reported that her pistol was stolen from her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight. 

2:19 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of East 11th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Two subjects were physically fighting over their child. Nobody was injured so the incident was documented in a 12-hour log.

11:58 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of West Third Street for a suspicious subject walking around throwing rocks in the park facility. Damage was found but the suspect is unknown at this time.

July 4

5:05 a.m.: Pettis County Joint Communications received a number of calls from a residence in the 200 block of West 11th Street. The caller requested medical attention but was unable to come to the door. Officers forced entry and found one male subject in need of medical attention. He was transported to Bothwell for care. 

8:22 p.m.: Officers took a burglary report from the 500 block of East Fourth Street. A suspect gained entry into the property owner's garage. The suspect didn't take anything but did use an extension cord and electricity from the owner. A general information report was created and no charges are being pursued. 

10:28 p.m.: A report of found property was taken in the police department lobby. A subject found a credit card on the ground at 2600 East Broadway Boulevard. It was placed into evidence as found property. 

10:40 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of South Grand Avenue and West Fifth Street. It was determined the driver was improperly displaying an expired license plate that belongs to someone else. One  license plate was seized and will be returned to the department of revenue. No charges are being sought.

Arrests

July 4

12:48 p.m.: Tina M. Swatek, of Sedalia, was arrested by deputies near U.S. Highway 50 and Chevalier Road for littering. She was transported to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office and placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges. 

Incidents

June 23

10 a.m.: Deputies took a report for a minor assault in the 2800 block of state Route TT in Pettis County. There were no charges sought and no injuries.

July 2

8:26 a.m.: Deputies responded to the 24000 block of Oak Grove Lane for a domestic disturbance. No arrests were made.

July 3

1 p.m.: Deputies towed vehicle from the Katy Park Katy Trail parking lot in Green Ridge. The vehicle is believed to have been involved in numerous thefts and burglaries in the area. The vehicle will be processed for evidence once a search warrant is complete.

July 4

9:45 p.m.: Rodney Ballew, 41, of Sedalia was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in progress in the 1300 block of East Boonville Road. The suspect fled on foot before deputies arrived, and two victims stated Ballew threw a large monkey wrench at the windshield of their vehicle causing the front windshield to break and glass to get in one of the victim’s eyes. She was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center by ambulance. Deputies took statements from a second victim and seized the wrench as evidence. At 12:24 a.m. deputies received a call that Ballew was back in the area. He again ran on foot but was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of third-degree assault, second-degree property damage, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest. He was also held on two Pettis County warrants.

Arrests

July 1

1:09 p.m.: Melissa K. Keen, 45, of Kansas City, was arrested in Johnson County for felony possession of a controlled substance and speeding. She was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

10:50 p.m.: Masten G. Hall, 43, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, speeding, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the University of Central Missouri police department and released.

July 2

4:52 p.m.: Henry J. Simpson, 29, of Kansas City, was arrested in Benton County for boating while intoxicated. He was transported to the Benton County Jail and released. 

9:25 p.m.: Cynthia M. Hallen, 19, of Henrico, Virginia, was arrested in Saline County for felony possession of a controlled substance – marijuana. She was transported to the Saline County Jail.

9:26 p.m.: Connor E. Grishaw, 21, of Midlothian, Virginia, was arrested in Saline County for felony possession of a controlled substance, driving while suspended, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Saline County Jail. 

11:22 p.m.: Zachary R. Dotson, 21, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, no tail light, a registration violation, and driving with a suspended driver's license. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released.  

July 3

6:41 a.m.: Kenneth J. Hays, 41, of Kansas City, was arrested in Johnson County for felony tampering with a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor Belton Police Department warrant, and a misdemeanor Grandview warrant. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail.

2:38 p.m.: Brooklynn R. Squire, 18, of Blue Springs, was arrested in Morgan County for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released. 

2:38 p.m.: Dustin J. Thomas, 19, of Raymore, was arrested in Morgan County for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of 11-35 grams of marijuana. He was released. 

9:07 p.m.: Timothy Nelson, 67, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail.

July 4

3:48 p.m.: Roderick T. Kemp, 23, of Columbia, was arrested in Morgan County for a Warren County misdemeanor warrant and possession of 11-35 grams of marijuana. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail. 

5:55 p.m.: Phillip D. Dwyer, 59, of Lawrence, Kansas, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, and possession of marijuana–less than 10 grams. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released. 

10:44 p.m.: Walter F. Tubbs, 51, from Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for felony driving while intoxicated – aggravated offender and failure to yield. He was transported to the Pettis county jail and released.
