This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

July 6

11:41 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of West Main Street in reference to a property damage report. An unidentified subject cut fencing to storage units and then broke into a storage unit. 

1:04 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South Lamine Avenue in reference to a violation of an ex parte order on June 12 during a supervised visit. At the conclusion of a supervised visit the suspect came within 100 yards of the petitioner while getting in his car to leave. The suspect denies this occurred, however, a supervisor was also a witness. 

2:43 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the lobby of the police department in reference to a report of enticement of a child. The child was using the chat portion of Words with Friends to talk with an adult. The adult turned the conversation sexual and the parent reported the incident immediately.

4:30 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of South Massachusetts Avenue in reference to a stolen bicycle. The victim said his bike was stolen at approximately 4 p.m.

7:16 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West Fifth Street for a burglary in progress. Contact was made with individuals who were later determined to be the suspects involved. The incident is under investigation. 

July 7

11:23 a.m.: Officers responded to the 600 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a dead body. Officers located a dead man inside a vehicle. The cause of death is unknown. 

1 p.m.: An officer located a utility pole in the area of West 24th Street and Kentucky Avenue that appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. The pole had minor damage. A suspect has not been identified. 

7:13 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Stewart Avenue for a reported theft incident. A lawn mower was stolen from the property. The suspect is unknown at this time.

8:19 p.m.: The Sedalia Police Department took a possible theft report in the lobby of the police department. A victim stated he lost or had his cell phone stolen approximately one month ago at a business in the 1600 block of East Broadway Boulevard. The value of the cell phone is $950.

Arrests

July 8

1:49 a.m.: Schasse Jirjis, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers observed a vehicle traveling east on 16th Street from South Limit Avenue in the wrong lane. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, however, the vehicle fled east on 16th Street running stop signs. It continued across 16th Street and Marshall Avenue where the road came to a dead end. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Bothwell Regional Health Center to be evaluated before being taken to the Pettis County Jail. Jirjis was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of resisting arrest by fleeing and creating a substantial risk, and careless and imprudent driving.

July 7

2:19 p.m.: Deputies took a report of a burglary that occurred in the 4800 block of South Limit Avenue in Pettis County. The investigation continues.

Arrests

July 7

6:57 p.m.: Cody D. Tarr, of Centerview, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the Johnson County Jail.
