This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

June 20

8:37 p.m.: Sam Lee Branstetter, 77, of Sedalia was arrested after officers responded to Liberty Park, 1500 W. Third St., for a report of a male subject with his pants down. Based on witness statements and officer observations the subject was transported to the Pettis County Jail he was placed on a 24-hour hold for first-degree sexual misconduct. 

9:32 p.m.: Troy D. Fogarty, 40, Sedalia, Missouri was arrested after an officer was dispatched to a disturbance near the 900 block of Winchester Drive. The caller stated her son had damaged her property and got angry because she would not let him in the house. He destroyed a bench on the porch and broke a window before walking away. The estimated damage was $200. The suspect left before the arrival of police but was located and arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold. A charge of property damage second-degree has been requested from the prosecutor. 

Incidents

June 20

11:15 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to  National TV Sales & Rental, 1400 S. Limit Ave., for a report of failure to return rented property. The employee making a report stated the suspect rented a 43-inch Smart TV valued at $810 and only made one payment on it. Neither he nor the property has been located. Charges have been submitted. 

11:18 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the police station lobby in reference to a hit-and-run accident that occurred earlier in the morning. The driver of a Saturn reported a semi truck hauling a flatbed trailer sideswiped her vehicle while she was in the turn lane. They continued north on South Limit Avenue and did not stop. 

11:30 a.m.: An officer contacted a victim about a license plate which was recovered on a stolen vehicle. The victim checked his car and found his front license plate was missing. There was nothing to indicate the victim was involved in the theft of the vehicle.

Incidents

June 17

7 p.m.: A deputy was dispatched to the Sheriff's Office for a theft report. The victim stated while in Columbia his Cobra 380 black finish handgun was stolen from the trunk of his motorcycle. The investigation is ongoing.

7:19 a.m.: Deputies took a report of theft of diesel fuel in the 17000 block of Wisdom Road in Pettis County. The investigation continues.

Arrests

June 20

3:12 p.m.: Daniel A. Stanford, 43, of Liberty, was arrested in Moniteau County for driving while suspended, a Clay County misdemeanor warrant for driving while suspended, a Clay County misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear, a Clay County misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear for a failure to drive in the right lane, and a Clay County misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear for the original charge for operating vehicle with no insurance. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail.
