This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 28

12:10 p.m.: Matthew Morgan Thomas, 29, of Centerview, was arrested in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for stealing. On May 27, asset protection from a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard filed a report regarding a May 25 theft. On May 28, the suspect was located and arrested. He was booked and released from the Pettis County Jail.

7:47 p.m.: Danielle M. Blake, 43, of Warsaw, was arrested near the intersection of East 17th Street and South Ingram Avenue for possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle with no license plates. A search of the driver and vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold pending charges.

10:15 p.m.: Sarah Jo Swift, 21, of Kansas City, Kansas, was arrested near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South New York Avenue for driving with a suspended license. An officer conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle with an unreadable license plate. A check through dispatch showed the driver’s license was suspended. She was arrested, taken to the SPD and released with a city ticket.

May 29

3:03 p.m.: Linzee P. Rank, 26, of the 300 block of East Howard Street, was arrested in the 3800 block of South Limit Avenue for stealing. An officer responded to a business for a theft in progress. Upon arrival, the female subject was found inside the store with merchandise in her purse. She was arrested for stealing and further investigation found she also had merchandise in her pants. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

3:18 p.m.: Miguel Matacua Aguliar, 24, of the 200 block of South Missouri Avenue, was arrested at his residence for fourth-degree domestic assault and a Sedalia failure to appear warrant. Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. The victim said a male known to her punched her in the head. She suffered minor injuries. 

4:45 p.m.: Christopher S. Sheppard, 30, of the 3000 block of Keith Allen Drive, was issued a summons in the 3500 block of West Broadway Boulevard for assault. On May 10, a victim came to SPD to report he was assaulted while working at a business in the 3500 block of West Broadway Boulevard. After further investigation, a suspect was located.

May 30

6:48 a.m.: Heath D. Lestage, 19, of the 400 block of North Grand Avenue, was arrested at his residence for stealing and resisting arrest. Officers responded to the residence for a domestic report. Contact was made with the suspect and an officer had probable cause to arrest him for two stealing cases from the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The suspect was told to turn around and place his hands behind his back but he was not compliant. After being placed in handcuffs, he began to resist officers as they attempted to walk him to the patrol car. The suspect was placed in a WRAP unit and taken to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold pending charges.

May 31

10:47 p.m.: Juan Ubaldo, 18, of the 600 block of East 10th Street, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a vehicle crash in the 600 block of East Ninth Street where a vehicle struck a parked car. A check of the driver through dispatch showed he had no driving status. Ubaldo was arrested for driving without a license and transported to the Police Department for booking. He was later released on summons. 

Incidents

May 20

12:14 p.m.: A complainant came to the SPD lobby and reported a theft at a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard on May 15. The suspect stole two items with a total value of $248.88. No suspect information is available.

May 28

1:31 p.m.: In the SPD lobby, an officer took a report of a sex crime involving a juvenile. 

4:18 p.m.: A burglary was reported in the 1700 block of East 16th Street. The suspect(s) are unknown.

4:21 p.m.: Officers responded to the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Grand Avenue for a report of a single-vehicle accident. Witnesses stated they observed two white males leave the scene on foot after crashing a vehicle into two pedestrian crossing light signals and a fire hydrant. That afternoon, a suspect was located. The driver was identified but had not been located. A charge of leaving the scene of an accident was submitted.

5:56 p.m.: An officer responded to Housel Park, 201 E. Howard St., for property damage in progress. Upon arrival, two juveniles were located near the bathroom. Damage to the concession stand and bathrooms was observed. The juveniles were released to family members. A juvenile referral has been completed.

9:16 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Centennial Park, 1500 E. 16th St., for a report of a burglary not in progress. The complainant found a concession stand had been broken into and someone attempted to break into a second concession stand. Damage to property inside the stand was also found.

May 29

12:24 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 1800 block of South Limit Avenue for a forgery report. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the caller who said someone attempted to use a counterfeit $20 bill at the business.

May 31

9:36 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of East Boonville Street in reference to a property damage report. During the overnight hours of May 30 someone damaged their vehicle. 

1:05 p.m.: An officer responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center emergency room regarding an animal bite that occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Beacon Avenue. A report was completed to document the incident.

3:25 p.m.: The female subject came into the SPD to report she was bitten by a dog in the 400 block of East Seventh Street the previous day. The victim reported that a dog ran out into the street from a house and attacked her.

5:42 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of East 20th Street for a report of property damage. The victim stated that around 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. someone slashed one of the tires on his Jeep Cherokee. The victim estimated the damage to be worth $250.

7:26 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of East 20th Street for a report of property damage. The victim stated that sometime between 2:30 and 3:30 a.m. someone slashed three of the tires on his vehicle. The victim estimated the damage to be around $300. 

June 1

10:26 a.m.: An officer took a report over the phone regarding a theft from a hotel room. The reporting party stated that a firearm had been taken out of their room while staying at a business in the 3600 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The pistol is valued at $250. 

5:53 p.m.: Officers responded to the 600 block of East 17th Street for a report of a theft. The victim stated her dog was stolen as well as her lawnmower.

1:43 p.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard regarding a verbal disturbance. Two subjects were trespassed from the location. 

2:57 p.m.: A report was taken in the SPD lobby from a victim who said his third economic impact payment was direct-deposited into somebody else's bank account. 

6 p.m.: Officers responded to a business parking lot in the 2400 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated they were sideswiped by another vehicle while traveling on West Broadway Boulevard. The suspect left the scene of the accident and has not been identified.

Arrests

June 2

2:35 a.m.: Elijah R. Lopez, of Knob Noster, was arrested after deputies conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of Highway 65 and West 32nd Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver was arrested for driving while suspended and transported to the Pettis County Jail.
