This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

March 17

12:03 p.m.: Keary M. Wimberly, 30, of the 1400 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested after an officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of North Grand Avenue and West Main Street. One passenger was found in possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. They were arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail where they were booked and held for 24 hours. Charges have been submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor for possession of synthetic narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

March 18

4:38 a.m.:  James L. Wallace, 29, was arrested after officers conducted a vehicle check in a parking lot in the 3500 block of West Broadway Boulevard. A search found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Wallace was charged with possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

7:37 p.m.: Sergio Alfonso Marcos, 42, of Sedalia, was issued a summons after officers responded to the 200 block of South Moniteau Avenue in reference to a disturbance. The complainant reported there was a highly intoxicated male who would not leave the residence. During the arrest, he actively resisted and failed to obey lawful orders. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold. Marcos was issued a City summons for resisting arrest, failure to obey a lawful order, and having an open container of alcohol.

March 19

12:51 a.m.: Michall Ray Cowherd, 31, of the 500 block of West Seventh Street, was issued a summons after officers responded to the 500 block of West Seventh Street in reference to a noise complaint. The complainants stated there was a loud banging and yelling from the upstairs neighbors. Cowherd was identified and contacted and issued a municipal summons for private peace disturbance.

3:23 a.m.: Ryan Edward Moore, 28, of the 1600 block of West 16th Street, was arrested after officers conducted a subject check in a parking lot in the 1200 block of South Limit Avenue. Moore had two active warrants for his arrest and he was arrested. A search found methamphetamine and marijuana and he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana, and two warrant arrests. 

Incidents

March 17

10:37 a.m.: An officer took a call at the SPD from a victim reporting an assault that took place in the area of West Third Street on March 6. A report was completed to document the incident. 

4:36 p.m.: An officer responded to the intersection of West 32nd Street and South Limit Avenue in reference to a hit-and-run accident. The victim stated they were rear-ended while stopped at the intersection and the striking vehicle fled. There were no injuries reported in the crash. The suspect vehicle and driver were identified through the help of witnesses who followed it for a short time. Contact has not been made with the suspect at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

6:01 p.m.: A report was taken at the SPD for a theft in the 100 block of East 16th Street. A representative of the business handed over a thumb drive with video of a suspect taking alcohol and putting it in his jacket. According to the representative, the clerk knew the alcohol was stolen and helped the primary suspect by giving him a bag to put the alcohol in before leaving the store. The complainant wishes to press charges of theft against the known suspects.

March 18

An officer took a report at the SPD in reference to forgery. The victim stated that someone filed for unemployment benefits using his name between the months of June and October 2020.

Arrests

March 18

1153 p.m.: Jayden Mathis was arrested after a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of South Washington Avenue and East 36th Street. Mathis failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the right side of the roadway, and struck a utility pole. After an investigation, deputies arrested Mathis and transported him to the Pettis County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated (drugs), tampering with physical evidence, no valid driver's license, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, and failure to maintain financial responsibility. Deputies were assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the scene. 

Jonathan Lindley was issued summonses after deputies conducted a vehicle stop near Highway 50 and South Moniteau Avenue in Pettis County. Lindley was pulled over for no license plates and an odor consistent with marijuana was observed coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search located marijuana inside the vehicle and Lindley was issued a summons for driving without a valid operator's license and possession of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid of 10 grams or less.

March 18

9:05 p.m.: Kristian C. Jones, 29, of Marshall, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated.
