This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests 

March 20 

1:15 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 3000 block of Broadway Boulevard for a report of stealing. Upon arrival, the officers made contact with an employee and the suspect. The employee informed the officer they had observed the suspect at the self checkout registering to pay for some items and skipping others. The total amount of items they did not pay for was $229.88. Staff made contact with her when she tried to leave with the items and the police were notified. Amanda K. Howard, 31, of the 1000 block of North Osage Street in Independence, was arrested for shoplifting.  

March 21

5:49 p.m.: Officers responded to a business on the 1000 block of Thompson Boulevard in reference to a subject check. The caller reported the suspect was in a business acting strangely and refusing to leave. After speaking with the subject the officers discovered drugs and paraphernalia in his vehicle. Bobby D. Radar Jr., 60, of Sweet Springs, was arrested on charges of drug violation possession (synthetic narcotic), misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

March 22

12:47 a.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on South Kentucky Avenue near West Ninth Street. Officers observed the vehicle had the registration plate of another vehicle on it. The driver and passenger consented to a search of the vehicle. The search revealed a powdery substance and several pieces of drug paraphernalia. Jason A. Bodenstab, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of drug violation possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

March 23

7 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 300 block of South Lamine Avenue for a disturbance. They were informed by witnesses that the people involved had just left. Down the street, they made contact with a suspect who admitted to being involved in an altercation in the business. The suspect requested that they step inside the sheriff’s office to get out of the weather. While they were talking the suspect started dropping small chunks of what appeared to be marijuana out of his front shirt pocket. The officer told the suspect that he was under arrest and the suspect pulled away and resisted the handcuffing process. Gregsby E. Bell, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. 

7:35 p.m.: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper registration in the 1000 block of West 32nd Street. The officer noticed the smell of marijuana from within the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed that David Z. Izoita, 22, of the 20000 block of Kathy Road, was in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He was arrested on charges of misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance, and failure to register annually with the Department of Revenue. 

March 24

12:41 a.m.: An officer pulled a vehicle over for speeding around West 16th Street and South Limit Avenue. It was discovered that the driver was intoxicated. Sam G. Eichholz, 20, of the 1000 block of Hedge Apple Drive, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and purchase/possession of liquor by a minor.  

Incidents 

March 24

9:48 a.m.: A victim contacted the police department regarding an assault that had taken place at a business in the 500 block of South Ohio Avenue between 1:30 and 2 a.m. The victim said known male subject had entered the business and pointed a firearm at the victim. The suspect then discharged the firearm into the floor before fleeing. No one was injured and the investigation is continuing. 

6:48 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a disturbance with a weapon. The caller stated that her, her husband, and child were threatened by a known subject with a handgun. The investigation revealed that the suspect was a minor. A referral was made to the Pettis County Juvenile Office.

Incidents

March 22

8:35 p.m.: Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Dana C. Jones, of Blue Springs, for a traffic violation. Jones failed to stop and led deputies on a pursuit into Johnson County. Jones crashed on Highway 23 near Northeast 900 Road. Due to injuries, Jones was flown to a trauma center.

March 22

10:55 a.m.: Larry L. Daylong, 60, of Raytown, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of felony possession of prescription drugs, possession of 10 grams or less of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and expired registration. 

1:14 p.m.: Zackery D. Patten, 24, of Buffalo, was arrested in Johnston County on charges of failure to drive on the right half of the road, no seatbelt, possession of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. 

3:03 p.m.: Evan C. Bankovich, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County on charges of failure to obey lawful order of a highway patrol officer, resisting arrest, identity theft, possession of a forgery instrument, possession of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. 

6:17 p.m.: Richard M. Capestro, 20, of Tipton, was arrested in Moniteau County on a charge of driving while intoxicated. 

8:39 p.m.: Lisa C. Cox, 54, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnston County on a charge of driving while intoxicated. 

8:41 p.m.: Kyle W. Bontrager, 20, of Haven, Kansas, was arrested in Benton County on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and minor in possession of alcohol. 

8:51 p.m.: Gary D. Emery, 75, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving. 

March 23

9:40 a.m.: Ashlie M. Pittman, 24, of Blue Springs, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance (prescription drugs), possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana, excessive window tint, no seat belt, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

9:40 a.m.: Dominic A. Reiners, 30, of Blue Springs, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, prescription drugs, possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

March 24

6:31 p.m.: Terry J. Branch, 51, of Versailles, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.
