This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Feb. 27

4:54 a.m.: Evante Lamar Maltbia, 28, of St. Joseph, was arrested after a traffic stop in the area of South Osage Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard. He had a suspended license and was issued a citation for driving while suspended

March 2

1:50 p.m.: Paul Averbeck, 22, of the 400 block of North Hurley Avenue, was arrested after an officer conducted a vehicle stop at West Fifth Street and South Grand Avenue. Averbeck had a revoked driving status and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released pending state charges.

10:08 p.m.: Mario Alberto Madrid, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue for trespassing in progress. Officers made contact with Madrid, who was trespassed from the business. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked for first-degree trespass and released.

March 3

12:54 a.m.: Kendra Lavatta Jordan, 29, of the 400 block of North Missouri Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop near West Main Street and South Missouri Avenue for driving while suspended. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released pending formal charges.

Incidents

March 1

2:13 p.m.: An officer responded to Sacred Heart School, 416 W. Third St., in reference to property damage. The complainant stated someone damaged one of the school buses. No suspects have been located.

3:39 p.m.: An officer met a victim in the police department lobby who said someone entered her storage unit in the 900 block of Normandy Drive and removed approximately $1,200 worth of items. There are no suspects.

8:32 p.m.: An officer took a report for a dog stolen in January 2023 from the 500 block of South Barrett Avenue. Information was gathered, but no contact has been made.

March 2

10:19 a.m.: An officer responded to the 400 block of East Sixth Street to investigate the theft of a mail package. The victim stated the package she ordered showed as delivered but was no longer on her doorstep. The value of the package was $177. There are no suspects.

4:56 p.m.: An officer spoke with the victim on the phone in reference to a stolen license plate. The victim stated the rear license plate of her vehicle was stolen recently. The plate has been entered into the system as stolen.

Arrests

March 2

10:22 p.m.: Scott E. Crawford was arrested after deputies conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. Highway 65 and Glazebrook Road on a vehicle with a detective tail light and incorrect registration. Crawford was found to have a revoked driving status and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released for driving while revoked - third or subsequent offense.

March 3

6:32 a.m.: Deputies took a report from the 3800 block of South Grand Avenue for leaving the scene of an accident and property damage. A white Pontiac G6 went off the roadway, struck a utility pole and was abandoned on scene. The vehicle was subsequently towed by Don's Truck Towing. The investigation is ongoing.

March 2

12:54 a.m.: Kimber M. Rucker, 36, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and speeding. She was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

2:49 p.m.: Caleb A. Walker, 42, of Drummond, Oklahoma, was arrested in Moniteau County for driving while intoxicated - alcohol. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail and released.

7:54 p.m.: Michael C. Burgesson, 35, of Lincoln, was arrested in Moniteau County for possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, failure to display valid plates on a motor vehicle, no insurance, and no seat belt. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail.

March 3

1:21 a.m.: Christopher L. Shippy, 48, of Centerview, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated - aggravated offender, felony driving with a revoked driver's license, failure to have two lit headlamps, failure to drive within a single lane, no valid registration, failure to place vehicle not in motion as far right as practicable, and no insurance. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
