This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 6

2:06 a.m.: Floyd E. Flippin Jr., 56, of the 300 block of West Sixth Street, was arrested near the intersection of West 16th Street and South Osage Avenue for resisting arrest and two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants. Officers performed a subject check on a person operating their bicycle into oncoming traffic. The subject failed to stop after commands from officers. The subject attempted to flee on his bicycle but was apprehended. A check through dispatch showed two Pettis County warrants. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked.

7:53 a.m.: TC Wright III, 30, of the 300 block of West 16th Street, was arrested near the intersection of West Main Street and Winchester Drive for driving with a suspended license. A traffic stop was conducted after the officer saw the registered owner’s Missouri driving privileges had been suspended. The owner was driving and dispatch confirmed his license was suspended. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.

10:58 p.m.: Miguel LeonChop, 40, of the 800 block of West 16th Street, was arrested near the intersection of West 20th Street and South Grand Avenue for operator’s license required. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with no tail lights. The driver was found to be driving without a license. He was arrested and taken to SPD for processing.

May 7

12:03 p.m.: Juan Beltran, 39, of the 400 block of South Montgomery Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of East 17th Street and South Collins Avenue for operator’s license required. A traffic stop was conducted for a vehicle with expired registration. A computer check showed the driver did not have a driver’s license. He was taken to SPD, issued a citation and released.

1:50 p.m.: Gabriel Arthur LaClair, 41, was arrested in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for second-degree trespassing. An officer responded to a disturbance report. Contact was made with the business’ staff, who stated a male suspect was refusing to check out. Contact was made with the subject, who refused to leave. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold.

3:28 p.m.: Dustin Shane Colvin, 33, of the 24000 block of Highway 765, was arrested near the intersection of North Ohio Avenue and East Johnson Street for failure to register as a sex offender. A vehicle was stopped after the officer noticed the driver was a registered sex offender and that the vehicle was not attached to his sex offender registry information. The driver admitted to having the vehicle frequently and thought he did not need to register it. He was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold.

8:51 p.m.: Juana Rubio Romero, 27, of the 2800 block of South Washington Avenue, was issued a municipal summons near the intersection of East 16th Street and South Lafayette Avenue for operator’s license required. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Incidents

May 7

7:18 a.m.: A complainant in the 2900 block of West 11th Street reported a theft. The suspect is known to them and confessed to taking the money. A juvenile referral is being completed.

May 9

8:33 a.m.: An officer began investigating a possible sex crime in Sedalia. The suspect is known and the investigation is ongoing.

7:46 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1000 block of South Marshall Avenue for a 911 hang-up. Upon arrival, it was determined a physical domestic disturbance had taken place. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. Charges are being requested but the suspect has not been located.
