This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 23

11:44 p.m.: Kwan Tavro Watkins Jr., 18, of the 1000 block of East 12th Street, was arrested near the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard for driving while intoxicated-drugs. An officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle speeding, with no license plates and a headlight out. The driver was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.

May 26

4:10 p.m.: Seth Eugene Hull, 35, of the 100 block of East 13th Street, was arrested near the intersection of East 15th Street and South Hancock Avenue for driving with a suspended/revoked license, resisting arrest, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, child passenger restraint system, and failure to properly display/affix license plates. An officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 1300 block of South Hancock Avenue for having retired expiration. The vehicle fled from officers and eventually stopped in the 700 block of East 16th Street. The driver was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail for a 24-hour hold.

10:17 p.m.: David S. Cavazos, 25, of the 700 block of East 17th Street, was arrested in the 1300 block of North Missouri Avenue for driving while intoxicated-drugs-persistent offender and driving with a revoked license. A car was located in a ditch with the driver inside. The driver was intoxicated. He was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

May 28

12:29 a.m.: Christopher A. Newton, 43, of the 1200 block of South Park Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of South Ohio Avenue and East 24th Street for driving while intoxicated. An SUV was stopped for failing to stop prior to a stop line and failing to maintain the right half of the road. The driver was intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail pending release to a sober person.

12:41 a.m.: Johnny Resendiz Chavez, 25, of the 2500 block of South Ohio Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of West Main Street and North Missouri Avenue for driving while intoxicated and failure to stop at a red light. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to stop at a red light at Fourth Street and Ohio Avenue. While speaking with the driver, officers believed he was under the influence of alcohol. After an investigation, the driver was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released to a sober person.

1:36 a.m.: Kentrail Demarcus Clay, 37, of Raytown, was arrested near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue for driving while intoxicated, following another vehicle too closely, and improper lane usage. A vehicle was stopped for following too closely, speeding and failure to maintain its lane. The driver was intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.

10:56 a.m.: Alma Morales-Meza, 30, of the 1500 block of South Beacon Avenue, was arrested in the 2500 block of West 16th Street for operator’s license required. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for multiple violations. A computer check of the driver confirmed she had no operator’s status. She was arrested, taken to the SPD and released with a summons.

9 p.m.: Alexandria Marie Guerra, 25, of Cole Camp, was arrested near the intersection of East Jefferson Street and North Ohio Avenue for driving while intoxicated-prior offender, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to maintain financial responsibility. An SUV was stopped for no front plate, improper rear plate, and indicators of intoxicated driving. The driver was intoxicated and found in possession of a controlled substance. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

May 30

1:18 a.m.: Megan Sayadinejad, 25, of the 600 block of North Quincy Avenue, was arrested near the intersection of Winchester Drive and Leroy Van Dyke Boulevard for driving while intoxicated. An officer was dispatched to assist with a traffic stop. The vehicle had been stopped for numerous violations, including crossing into the oncoming traffic lanes. During the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The subject was arrested and transported to the SPD, where she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC above 0.08. She was issued a uniform traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated and released.

Incidents

May 26

11:49 p.m.: Officers responded to the 700 block of South New York Avenue for a structure fire in progress. Upon arrival, a small shed was engulfed in flames. Surrounding vehicles were damaged in the fire. No injuries were reported. The Sedalia Fire Department arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the flames.

May 27

6:30 p.m.: A male subject came to the SPD to report an assault that happened the night before. He reported being assaulted by a male subject in the 1400 block of West Third Street. Charges will be submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

May 28

9:57 a.m.: Officers responded to the 500 block of East Third Street in reference to possible property damage. Items belonging to the caller were believed to have been set ablaze overnight. No suspects have been identified at the time of the report.

May 29

11:30 a.m.: A victim reported a license plate was stolen off their vehicle in the 400 block of Morgan Street. The license plate was entered into NCIC and MULES as stolen.

Arrests

May 28

2:52 p.m.: Deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the 4200 block of West Main Street for a report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arrival and after an investigation, James D. Boslaugh was arrested for third-degree domestic assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of charges.

Incidents

May 27

6:13 p.m.: A domestic assault was reported in the 22000 block of Smithton Road in Pettis County. The complainant did not want to press charges but wanted to make a report of the assault.

Arrests

May 29

8:48 p.m.: Koy D. McNary, 60, of Columbia, was arrested in Morgan County for driving while intoxicated-persistent offender, exceeding posted speed limit by more than 26 mph, and failure to drive on the right half of the road. He was taken to the Morgan County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
