This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 23

11:55 p.m.: Chasidy F. Perez, 34, of Des Moines, Iowa, was arrested after officers stopped a vehicle near East 14th Street and South Engineer Avenue for failure to use a turn signal. It was determined Perez was intoxicated by drugs, and she was taken to a hospital then the Pettis County Jail, booked and released on a state charge of driving while intoxicated - drugs.

Sept. 24

12:17 a.m.: Dalton Bailey Turner, 20, of the 100 block of East Second Street, was arrested after an officer observed a vehicle traveling westbound on West Broadway Boulevard drifting in and out of its lane. A traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue revealed the driver to be intoxicated. He was transported to the Sedalia Police Department and issued a uniform traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated. 

1:58 a.m.: Daniel Neal Scotten, 22, of Green Ridge, was arrested after police responded to the 1300 block of South Harrison Avenue for a reported home invasion. Contact was made with the suspect leaving the scene and Scotten was detained. The investigation revealed that burglary and property damage had occurred. The suspect was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail, and charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree property damage. 

9:35 p.m.: Roel L. Gonzalez, 21, of the 500 block of East Chestnut Street, was arrested after a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard on a vehicle observed failing to maintain a lane. It was determined the driver was intoxicated and Gonzalez was arrested, transported to the Sedalia Police Department, issued a uniform traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated, and released to a sober driver. 

11:32 p.m.: Briahnna Marie Cartwright, 29, of the 1200 block of East Sixth Street, was arrested after being observed in an eastbound SUV for failing to maintain a lane on East Broadway Boulevard. A traffic stop revealed the driver had a suspended driver's license and Cartwright was arrested on a municipal charge for the same. She was released with a citation. 

11:58 p.m.: Kendall David Weymouth, 24, of the 2100 block of South Harrison Avenue, was arrested after a car was observed disobeying a stop sign at South Osage Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard. It was determined the driver was intoxicated by alcohol and/or drugs and was in possession of cocaine. He was taken to the police department, the hospital, and the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. 

Sept. 25

9:24 a.m.: Chelsea A. Green, 25, and Robert R. Standley, 35, of Marshall, were arrested after officers conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of South Osage Avenue and West 10th Street. A probable cause search located a digital scale with a white powdery residue and a partially consumed Xanax pill. Driver Green and occupant Standley were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and were transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold. 

12:28 a.m.: Mario Serrano, 18, of the 1200 block of South Osage Avenue, was arrested after being observed traveling east on West Broadway Boulevard with no headlights on and failing to maintain a lane. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The driver struck two parked cars and continued to flee, eventually stopping near West 16th Street and South Vermont Avenue. Serrano was ordered out of the vehicle and was arrested. He was determined to be intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of driving while intoxicated, felony resisting arrest, and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. 

Sept. 26

1:22 a.m.: Lacey R. Battles, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 700 block of State Fair Boulevard in reference to trespassing. Officers made contact with the caller, who stated that a stranger entered his home while he was asleep. The caller yelled at the suspect until they ran away. Battles was located a short time later and arrested for first-degree trespass.

Incidents

Sept. 19

3:48 p.m.: A complainant came to the SPD lobby to report a hit-and-run accident. Earlier in the afternoon, they were driving south on South Limit Avenue near West 16th Street and were struck by a semi-truck that continued without stopping to provide information. The truck has not been identified. 

Sept. 20

7:47 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of East 11th Street for a fraud report. The victim stated someone had attempted to make a $300 purchase on Apple.com using their debit card number.

8:39 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a property damage report in the parking lot of a business in the 4000 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The reporting party said it appeared someone drilled a hole in the gas tank of their work vehicle, causing gasoline to spill. The estimated cost to fix the tank was $500.

Sept. 23

8:05 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East 13th Street for a child endangerment report. The officer met the caller, who stated a young child was walking around outside with no clothing on. The child's mother was eventually located and a call was made to the Child Abuse Hotline. 

9:53 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of East 12th Street in reference to a theft report. The reporting party stated a vehicle was stolen from the lot overnight. No suspects have been identified. 

7:37 p.m.: Officers responded to the 2400 block of West First Street Terrace in reference to a teen out of control. Officers were able to calm the teen down, but after leaving were called back. The teen had supposedly thrown items in the house and went to the neighbor's house, threatening to damage their house. The mother claimed that the teen assaulted her 7-year-old brother and her mother, though no marks or injuries were observed. Once again, the teen was calmed and left the house. Due to the accusations, a juvenile report was completed.

10:25 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a reported theft. A suspect has not been identified. 

Sept. 24

10:09 a.m.: Officers responded to the 2000 block of West 14th Street in reference to property damage and spoke with the reporting party, who stated the ignition to his truck was drilled out. No suspects have been identified. 

8:27 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 800 block of East Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. The complainant stated a male subject came into the store and stole multiple packages of alcohol. The suspect has been identified, but no contact has been made. 

6:10 p.m.: Officers took a report from the 300 block of West Third Street in reference to harassment. The complainant said a neighbor has constantly been harassing them by yelling and cursing at them while standing outside. The subject has been identified and state charges are being requested.

Sept. 25

9:11 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of forgery. The caller stated a known subject attempted to pass a fake $100 bill. The bill was collected and placed into evidence. 

2 p.m.: Officers took a report of the theft of a lawn mower from the 500 block of East 11th Street. The reporting party stated overnight, someone took his electric Hart push mower. No suspects have been identified.

Incidents

Sept. 24

10:41 a.m.: Deputies responded to the 32000 block of Van Dyke Road in Pettis County for a report of property damage. The investigation continues. 

Sept. 25

10:14 a.m.: Deputies responded to a burglar alarm in the 29000 block of Rattlesnake Hill Road in Smithton. The door to an unoccupied house was pried open, but nothing appeared to be missing.

Arrests

Sept. 23

4:09 p.m.: Dillon R. Ames, 26, of Armstrong, was arrested in Saline County for driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving a crash. He was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall and released. 

9:47 p.m.: Michael L. Holliman, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for felony tampering with a motor vehicle and impersonating an officer. He was transported to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office and released. 

Sept. 24

6:24 p.m.: Roderick F. Whitehead, 20, of Blue Springs, was arrested in Saline County for felony resisting arrest and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Saline County Jail and released. 

Sept. 25

10:07 a.m.: Michelle L. Bradley, 35, of Windsor, was arrested in Henry County for felony possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and no seat belt. She was transported to the Henry County Jail and released. 

7:13 p.m.: Jameson L. Griffith, 37, of Kansas City, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, a Christian County warrant, and speeding. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail.
