This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Incidents

Sept. 23

12:37 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1300 block of West 10th Street in reference to an identity theft report. The victim said she received a letter stating she had authorized a wire transfer of money between banks. She also received letters from collection agencies for balances due. The victim said she did not give authorization for any of these transactions. 

4:30 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 3400 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft report. The victim said she was scammed out of approximately $251,515. 

Sept. 26

7:19 a.m.: An officer responded to a business in the 3100 block of Erika Avenue for a theft report. An employee reported a catalytic converter stolen from a vehicle belonging to the business. At the time of the report, a suspect has not been located. 

11:32 a.m.: Officers took a report in reference to the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the 3000 block of Erika Avenue. The value of the damage is $1,800. No suspects have been identified. 

Sept. 27

5:03 a.m.: Officers took a destruction of property report in the 600 block of East 14th Street. The victim reported her car was egged over the weekend in a business parking lot, causing a felony amount of property damage. The suspect is unknown.

9:51 a.m.: Officers responded to the 600 block of South Moniteau Avenue in reference to a possible burglary. A subject who was recently evicted from the residence broke inside, then left prior to the officer's arrival. The value of the damage was estimated at $325. Charges are being requested through the Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Arrests

Sept. 28

12:46 a.m.: Teghan E. Watkins, of Sedalia, was arrested after deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through an alley in the area of 16th Street and Lamine Avenue. The Pettis County K-9 unit attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver, who was later identified as Watkins, fled at a high rate of speed. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle near 25th Street and Massachusetts Avenue and a short time later, deputies located the three occupants of the vehicle walking south on Ohio Avenue. Deputies arrested Watkins for careless and imprudent driving, failure to stop for a stop sign, and resisting arrest. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail.
