This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Feb. 3

4:08 a.m.: Tiffany M. Morrill, 34, of the 400 block of East Harvey Street, was arrested after officers responded to the 400 block of East Chestnut Street in reference to a theft. The caller stated someone known to them stole their bicycle. The bicycle was recovered and Morrill was issued a summons for stealing.

Feb. 5

1:42 a.m.: Charles Joseph Wansing III, 51, of the 1600 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested after a traffic stop at South Summit Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard for a vehicle failing to maintain a lane. It was determined Wansing was intoxicated and he was transported to the police department and then the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released for driving while intoxicated - prior offender.

Feb. 6

10:49 p.m.: Sean S. Burke, 51, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a disturbance. The suspect left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. The reporting party provided a vehicle description that led officers to have contact with the subject in a business parking lot. Burke was previously trespassed from all of a specific company’s stores in Sedalia and, as a result, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Feb. 7

12:19 p.m.: Damean Duarall Simmons, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a person who returned after having been trespassed. He was located and issued a summons.

3:44 p.m.: Demean D. Simmons, 38, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for trespassing. Simmons had been trespassed from the business earlier the same day and went back to the store. He was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released with a first-degree trespass charge.

Incidents

Feb. 5

10:08 a.m.: Joint Communications received a fax stating that a theft had occurred prior to March 28, 2022, and that the sending company wished to press charges. The faxed document was turned over to the Sedalia Police Records and they asked an officer to investigate. It was determined the fax did not come from the company, and had been sent from another location. The company did not want to press charges and an investigation found the request for services was not credible. A report was completed for documentation.

Feb. 6

12:24 p.m.: An officer took a phone report of an incident of harassment that took place in 2019 in the 2400 block of South Limit Avenue. It was determined the statute of limitations had passed and the issue was more civil than criminal.

2:34 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to Broadway Boulevard and Prospect Avenue in reference to a hit-and-run accident. A stop sign had been struck and destroyed and the striking vehicle left the scene. Ring video and witness statements were used to obtain a good description of the vehicle.

7:28 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business parking lot in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a disturbance. Seven subjects from out of town were drawn to the parking lot to settle a family feud. A physical altercation ensued, but a primary physical aggressor could not be determined. A 12-hour log was created.

Feb. 7

7:22 a.m.: Officers responded to the 2500 block of South Woodlawn Drive in reference to a theft. The victim said a man known to her stole her wallet and keys. Officers made contact with the subject but were unable to locate any of the stolen items.

7:33 a.m.: An officer took a report of property damage that occurred in the 1900 block of South Montgomery Avenue. The victim stated he knows the suspect.

11:25 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a vehicle theft report in the 1400 block of South Beacon Avenue. A truck that was being worked on could not be located. It was entered into the system as stolen.

12:25 p.m.: An officer responded to the parking lot of the Stone Creek apartments, 3100 Brianna Boulevard, in reference to a hit-and-run accident. A witness stated she watched as a white Chrysler sedan crashed into a parked vehicle. The Chrysler then sped away from the scene without providing information.

12:52 p.m.: Officers took a report from the 500 block of North Quincy Avenue in reference to a forgery. The reporting party stated an ADT contract was signed using her information without her permission.
